Merlin - Cornwall’s Neuro Therapy Centre
Dedicated To Improving Health and Well-Being
Merlin Neuro Therapy Centre is an independent Cornish charity supporting adults living with neurological conditions and children and young people who are neurodiverse with sensory processing challenges.
We believe nobody should face these challenges alone. Every day, we help people improve their wellbeing, maintain independence and live fuller, more connected lives.
Because cost should never be a barrier to accessing support.
A place of support, hope and possibility
Help us raise vital funds for our charity
Our aim is to help people live more independent lives by providing access to specialist therapies, support and a welcoming community. We are committed to keeping our services as accessible and affordable as possible, ensuring more people can benefit from the support they need.
As a charity, we rely on fundraising, donations and income generated through the Centre to sustain our work. Every visit to our café, retail area, external clinics or other facilities helps us reinvest in our charitable services, enabling us to support more people across Cornwall.
More than a therapy centre—it’s a community hub where every visit helps make a difference.

If you are ready to start your festive shopping you really should visit the wonderful retail space at the Centre. Our retail volunteers, Liz and Di have worked their socks off to bring together some lovely seasonal gifts. We are also working on plans for our Christmas Coffee Morning on Saturday 5th December, where we will be joined by lots of local crafters and businesses for more festive purchases. www.facebook.com/events/1755727432316501

Meet Ruth
If you visit the Centre in the afternoon, chances are you will have been welcomed by one of our wonderful volunteer receptionists. Ruth is one of our Tuesday volunteers complete with friendly smile and on brand purple hair!
Ruth describes herself as being on the "wrong side of 70", but her energy and enthusiasm tell a different story!
Pagan, petrolhead and heavy rock fan, Ruth spent more than 15 years running a dog training club and is a Kennel Club Examiner. She has a lifelong fascination with animal behaviour, particularly wolves and ravens.
When she's not volunteering, you'll likely find her painting acrylics, tackling New York Times puzzles, or spending time in her family's 5.5-acre woodland, where they're working to rewild the land and encourage more wildlife.
"Volunteering at the Centre has shown me how much of an impact a supportive community can have. I'm proud to play a small part in helping others achieve their goals."
Ruth is one example of our incredible group of volunteers who support the charity in so many ways. We're incredibly grateful for everything they do.
Could you be our next volunteer? Even if you can only share a couple of hours a week, help out at events, or share your knowledge another way, we would love to hear from you. Volunteering is a fantastic way to meet new people, learn new skills, and make a real difference.

Sue is a mum of two, grandmother to seven, and someone who refuses to let Parkinson's define who she is.
After noticing changes in her movement and strength, Sue was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2024. Everyday tasks became difficult, affecting not only her independence but also her confidence.
Determined to stay active, Sue joined Merlin Neuro Therapy Centre and began attending hydrotherapy sessions. One of Sue's biggest goals was to regain her ability to swim.
Parkinson's had affected her coordination in the water, leaving her unable to swim in a straight line and causing her to lose confidence in an activity she really enjoyed.
Our Clinical Lead, Mel, worked with Sue to help rebuilt her confidence, coordination and movement patterns.
Today, Sue is back in the pool, enjoying being part of weekly hydrotherapy classes, staying active, and benefiting from the friendships and support she has found at the Centre.
"Coming to the Centre has provided me with more than I was even expecting. Those initial one-to-one sessions with Mel in the pool allowed me to swim again and join in my weekly hydro classes with confidence."
If you would like to find out more about any of our services please get in touch 01726 885530 or email hello@merlincentre.org.uk
