Dedicated To Improving Health And Well-Being
A Vision For Cornwall
Our story began in 2001, when Dr Derek Murphy and his wife, Eileen, retired to Cornwall and discovered that their daughter-in-law, who was living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), had to travel to Exeter to access specialist therapy.
They knew this wasn’t right. Cornwall needed somewhere closer to home.
Derek and Eileen organised a public meeting, expecting a small gathering. More than 30 people came. It was clear that they were not alone there was a real need for specialist neurological therapy and support in Cornwall.
From that meeting, the Merlin Project was born.
After seven years of fundraising, we opened our doors in 2009. What began as a vision to support people living with MS has grown into a welcoming community supporting adults, children and young people living with neurological conditions and neurodiversity.
Although our name has changed over the years, our purpose remains the same:
No one should have to face the challenges of neurological conditions or neurodiversity alone.
Today, we continue the vision that Derek and Eileen started providing specialist therapy, support, friendship and hope to people and families across Cornwall.
